To my amazing Cuba
You are already 7 years old and I will begin this little letter to you by saying I am so extremely proud of you Cuba. You are such a brave and adventurous person yet so sensitive, caring and loving. I hope this letter will give you an insight snd some understanding to why and how you are so incredibly special and completely amazing to me, daddy and your family and friends.
You are such a caring big brother to your Little sister Coco-Ivy. I know she can be a pain in the bum bum sometimes, as she follows you everywhere seeking your attention and wants to boss you about when you play with her, but its only because she loves and adores you so much.
You have an incredible passion for learning and you have settled into your new school amazingly. You are especially gifted in mathematics, geography and you have recently taken an interest in science you little clever clogs which, is no surprise to us as you are extremely inquisitive and enjoy problem solving.
It has also been such a pleasure to see you thrive with your reading, you amaze me how you finish a 12 chapter book from beginning to end on an evening before bed and retell the story in great detail. You are so smart and always try your best.
You recently went on your first residential trip with school and stayed two nights away from home. Mummy and daddy were so nervous to let you go and we missed you terribly. The house was eerily quiet without you. You came back filthy and the first thing you did was have a long shower then got in your PJ’S and ate loads of all of your favourite food you had missed. Your teacher, Mr Hayward said he was very impressed with how brave you were in trying all the activities, you particularly enjoyed canoeing and caving the most. You had a fantastic time and we are so pleased your teachers and your buddies got to see the adventurous Cuba that we all know and love so very much.
You amaze us and at the same time and make us laugh out loud with your cheeky banta. You enjoy telling jokes on a daily basis, some are actually funny and some are so bad they are even funnier. You are a very popular boy even though you don’t always believe it, mummy and daddy think thats because you can be a little shy sometimes. Just remember wherever we are such as, on holiday, for example everyone who meets you wants to be your friend remembering your name. And oh, the girls gush around you, even though you are totally oblivious to all the admiring señorita’s and probably couldn’t care less, being the typical seven year old boy.
You are a Minecraft fanatic working out codes and enjoy the challenges of mastering new tricks. Daddy and I joke about how we will have to keep a very close eye on you, as you will be hacking into high security intelligence before long.
I know you have been missing daddy when he leaves for work and doesn’t come home for what must seem like such a long time to you, as daddy works away more than he is home. However, the fantastic news is daddy will be starting his new job soon and then he will be coming home after work every single day, which means mummy and daddy will have lots more family time together and more opportunities for fun. You love spending time with tour friends on playdates but recently we have all been so busy its not always possible to arrange. So, when daddy is home everyday we will do our best to ensure you do have more fun time with your buddies.
You are so affectionate and you are the best cuddle monster in the whole wide world. You are becoming such a big boy not only in size but emotionally and in character. Not only are you the best big brother ever, you are the coolest little brother in town. Your big sister Kia is very protective of you.
We couldn’t be prouder of you and of course we love you so much, even when you have your cheeky little head on. You are so quick with your backchat, you certainly keep us on our toes with that witty brain of yours.
I hope you have a wonderful time being a seven year old boy, and mummy, daddy and all your family will continue to enjoy watching you grow into the wonderful little fella that you are.
All my love, hugs and kisses

Oh my goodness, such a beautiful letter. The photos that go with it really show his personality. Can I ask why you chose the name Cuba? It’s a lovely name!

Thank you so much Nelly, Cuba’s name is one I’ve always liked from the actor, Cuba Gooding Junior. His dad agreed it would be a unique name without being too ‘out there’.
We are so glad we went for it as the name suits him perfectly x
I thought it was! It’s a very good choice name. He’s one of my favourite actors. I loved his performance in Boyz In The Hood.
