My Top 6 Blog Posts For 2020

I had the thought of writing a post about 2020 and my mind was inundated with a flurry of ideas. So I decided to keep it simple and publish a couple of posts about my favourite content. Firstly, my Top 6 blog posts for 2020, a list of my favourite posts published in 2020.

Not only has there been some super dark times during this shit bag of a year.  There has also undeniably been some of the most wonderful family moments that have gotten us through 2020.

So here we have it, my top 6 blog posts for 2020

1 | Chinese salt & pepper chicken wings fake away

This is one of my most popular posts which brings me great joy as the recipe got my daughter Kia through the first full lockdown.

Remember when everything including your favourite take ways were shut down for the then foreseeable future? Yeah exactly it was such a shock to the system especially for our beloved teenagers. During that time we had fun at home recreating a few popular fast food meals such as a Mac Donalds sausage, egg McMuffin. However the salt and pepper wings are our absolute fave and therefore number 1 on my top 6 for 2020.

2 | POPFest 2020 – Pop tv

We had a fantastic opportunity working on a collaboration with the kids tv channel POP TVpromoting the POPFest 2020.

The kids absolutely loved taking part setting up our very own POPFest at home. It gave us something fun and different to enjoy and concentrate on outside the full lockdown and home schooling. We dressed up the living room, sang and danced to the trolls soundtrack and watched some of the kids favourite pop tv channels.

3 | Corona Virus Through A Childs Eyes | Q&A With Cuba aged 8

Blogger Kate of @Confessions of a new mummy spotted this fun Q&A on facebook so, I instantly asked my almost 8 year old son Cuba if he’d like to take part and he Kindly obliged.

It was a super fun and very revealing simple questionnaire as to how much Cuba had processed in about the pandemic and our then new normal life.

I am so pleased we did the questionnaire as it is a precious keepsake we can reflect on in the future when we will have finally moved on in life outside the COVID 19 pandemic.

4 | Lockdown with the kids in pictures | Our new normal Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.

At the beginning of the full lockdown I began what ended up being a 3 part post.

It was challenging transitioning our family life into the then new normal.

However, I absolutely stepped right back into my camera mama shoes.

The weather was glorious and we were very lucky to have a scenic daily family walk into the country park we live next to.

5 | Pumpkin FunFest At Mead Open Farm

We love a family fun day out and our Halloween visit was the first day trip we have had since the February Half term.

It was exactly what the kids needed after what had felt like such a long year already! We had some genuine laugh out loud moments despite the miserable weather. I love writing blog posts like this, just making a visual diary of the best simple bits about family life.

6 | Mental Health | Six Wishes For My Daughter

At first my 17 yr old daughter seemed to transition into the lockdown lifestyle quite smoothly. However, it became a worry to most parents how the whole situation will affect our kids mental health, particularly our teenagers long term.

After a little reflecting and some reading on the matter, I wrote my six wishes for my daughter. I want her and other families to have hope and remain positive. Awareness and honest conversation regarding mental health is a subject I always strive to highlight.

So there are my personnel Top 6 blog posts for 2020!

I think I would love to read all these posts. I am having a Chinese tomorrow but love the sound of your meal too. Yes we worry about our children in these challenging times. I have 3 teenagers who have had a lot of personal issues to tackle as well as the impact of the global pandemic. Just hoping love gets them through OK. I will be back to look at your 6 posts I promise. #MischiefandMemories

Ahhh I remember some of these posts! What a lovely look back over the year. Your Chicken Wings fake away recipe looks delicious. Like you, baking got us through those long weeks. My favourite post from the ones you have included is your wish post to your daughter, it’s so heart felt. I know we are all wishing for some sort of ‘normal’ for our children – fingers crossed it won’t be too long before we see a better shift in things.
