‘Spikey’ A New Children’s Book to Help Save the Hedgehogs | Review

Who doesn’t love one of Britains favourite mammals, the super cute Hedgehog? Especially the sight of the beautiful wild creatures going about their daily lives in our gardens, woodlands and streets. But, how much do we and our kids actually know about them? Well, thanks to the children’s author Tereza Anteneová we can learn all about the precious hedgehog, what they eat, why they are at risk and how we can help them.

The books Synopsis

‘In Regent’s Park, London, a lonely and rejected hedgehog called Spikey must learn quickly if he is to survive the coming winter. With only the wisdom of his grandma to guide him, he sets out into the big, wide world. Who will help him, and how will he cope when there are dangers all around?’

A few interesting facts about this inspiring book

An exciting and heart-warming story for children and hedgehog-lovers of all ages

What we think about the book?

I love this super cute and beautifully illustrated book so much. It is such a lovely read to enjoy with children and hedgehog lovers of all ages. The book promotes children’s knowledge whilst encouraging them to think and learn about these fascinating and lovable creatures. There are comprehension questions set at the bottom of each page, great for encouraging conversation with the kids. Overall, an interesting family read that also encourages all children in developing good reading habits.

This lovely book was a hit with my 9 year old son Cuba, his thoughts are: “I really like this book as it makes you think about how to be kind to your friends. Especially to others whom may have differences and challenges different to you. The questions at the bottom of the page are good because it helps you to think about your feelings. I also think this book is perfect for any animal lover.”
